The School of English is part of the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures (Wydział Neofilologii), which is in turn one of eleven Faculties of the Adam Mickiewicz University. The Faculty of Modern Languages is headed by the Dean, currently prof. dr hab. Józef Darski. His Deputies for Student Affairs are prof. dr hab. Mirosław Loba (full-time programme) and prof. dr hab. Piotr Nowak (part-time programme). Prof. dr hab. Jacek Witkoś is Deputy for Research.

The Head of the School of English is prof. dr hab. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk (room 607A). Her deputies are:

The School is further divided into a number of departments and centres, organised around the main research and teaching themes.

All administration of the School is handled by the Secretariat, which is located in room 608A. In particular, student affairs within the School are supervised by the appropriate vice-director (currently prof. dr hab. Anna Cieślicka), with the administrative support of the Secretariat. On the level of the Faculty, the Dean's office (Dziekanat; room 127 B) is in charge.

To help organise and supervise the study, a tutor of the year (opiekun roku) is assigned to each year -- see the list of names below. This person then serves as an advisor for the whole duration of the study. In particular, it is the responsibility of the tutor:

  1. to organise "the freshman day" for the newly recruited first year students, on which students choose groups (American vs. British), obtain credit books (indeksy), take a guided tour of the School, etc.;
  2. to check and sign the students' credit books (indeksy) at the end of each academic year, before they are passed on to the Dean's office for further administrative processing (this is known as "videmat" in Polish);
  3. to supervise, advise, help and mediate in the process of study, in administrative and subsistence problems.
