Polish-AngloSaxon Studies was initiated in 1987 by Professor Wojciech Lipoński. It is
published by the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań,
Poland. International and interdisciplinary in scope, it carries
original articles on all aspects of cultural relations between Poland and
English-speaking nations, in their historical as well as contemporary
dimension. It also welcomes review articles and book reviews. The journal is
included in the collections of the British Library, the Library of Congress,
the Cambridge University Library, the Yale University Library and other
libraries in Poland and worldwide. It is listed in the ERIH PLUS index of
scholarly journals.
PASS is included in the list of journals and proceedings
of international conferences published by The Polish Ministry of Science and
Higher Education in January 2024, with 20 points awarded.

content of the journal is available online via AMUR, the Adam Mickiewicz University Repository.
The language of the journal is English.
Articles
published by PASS usually range between 4,000 and 15,000 words, but longer
text can also be occasionally accepted. Published articles will be accompanied
by abstracts and lists of keywords (see below for details). Together with the
names of the Authors, the journal will publish their institutional affiliation,
as well as email addresses.
Manuscripts,
formatted in accordance with the PASS
stylesheet (see below for details), should be sent as file attachments (MS Word
type, PC-readable), to PASS’s email
address (pass@wa.amu.edu.pl). In the email the Author's or Authors' institutional affiliation and
full contact details (email and postal addresses, telephone number) should be
included.
When
submitting manuscripts to PASS,
Authors are requested to avoid simultaneous submission of them to other
publication venues.
Submitted articles will be subjected to a double-blind
peer review process. After an initial acceptance of a text by the Editors
(with a focus on the scope and form of the submission), at least two specialist
anonymous Reviewers will be asked to assess the text and to comment upon it,
using the PASS
Review Form. The review
will be confidential but the Reviewers’ recommendations as to the potential publication
of the article, as well as their particular comments, will be forwarded to the
Authors, together with the Editors’ decision.
Publishing a
text in PASS includes granting by the
Author(s) a non-exclusive licence to the Adam Mickiewicz University to store
the text digitally and to make it available in the Adam Mickiewicz University Repository.
PASS Stylesheet
All
contributions should follow the PASS stylesheet:
- They should begin with a separate page with the Author's name, institutional affiliation and
email.
- Following the title they should
have an abstract (up to 250
words) and a list of several keywords.
- They should be equipped with
both footnotes and a final list
of References.
- 1.5 line spacing and Times New
Roman 12 points should be used throughout, with the exception of
footnotes, block quotations and long quotations from poetry, which should
be set in Times New Roman 10 points. Quotations should be formatted as
block quotations if they have more than 90 words. Block quotations should
be additionally left-indented.
- The documentation information
of a source cited in the text should first be placed in a footnote and
then repeated, in a modified format, in the References section at the end
of the text (see below for examples).
- Footnotes are to be numbered
consecutively with superscript numbers (Arabic numerals).
- Titles in languages other than
English (including Polish, French, Spanish etc.) should be translated into
English. The translations should be placed in parentheses and should
follow immediately the original titles in both the footnotes and the
References section.
- The abbreviations of n.p. and n.d., standing
respectively for “no place” (of publication) or “no publisher”, and “no
date” should be used where necessary.
- Footnotes should use the
traditional Latin abbreviations of cf., op. cit., and ibid., without
italicizing them.

- If copyright restrictions are
applicable to any material quoted or reproduced in the article, it is the
responsibility of the Author to seek permission to quote or reproduce such
material, and to inform PASS
that all necessary permissions have been obtained, or are being obtained.
- Double quotation marks should
be used. Periods and commas always follow closing quotation marks. In the
main text of the manuscript footnote superscript numbers follow all
punctuation marks.
- Ellipsis is always represented
as three periods in square brackets (as in [...]).
- Automatic word hyphenation
should be turned off.
PASS Publication Ethics
For the sake
of maintaining best academic practices, PASS requests all Authors to
reveal, when submitting their texts, all the relevant information as to the
authorship of the texts, the respective contributions of the authors of multi-author
texts, as well as to make disclosure statements regarding financial support (if
any) for the research presented.
By
submitting their texts, Authors confirm that they are their own work and that
no part of them has been copied without proper reference, or plagiarized in any
other way, from other texts.
Plagiarism,
“ghost-writing” and “guest authorship” constitute violations of the principles
of academic integrity; should they occur, the Editors will be compelled to
report them to the academi community and
institutions. The detection of such practices during the review process will
result in the exclusion of the text from publication.
In general, PASS follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Core Practices,
including matters concerning intellectual property.
