/^t/Poland's contribution to Europe's prosperity would be almost non-existent and, therefore, the role of our country would be insignificant. The costs of unification would be too high and this, in turn, would lead to a collapse of our economy, lay-offs and social discontent. Poland would not be able to keep to a 30% increase of the EC budget that was proposed by the Community's three richest countries - France, Germany and the United Kingdom. There is also the danger that many issues, like the question of whether students should pay for their higher education or not, would be approached in a way that most Poles would not approve of.
