/^t/Everyone knows that children are expensive, but those with Down's syndrome are especially so. They need a day care and cannot be left home alone, so one of the parents must give up his or rather her job, because it is usually the woman who keeps an eye on the retarded child. It is also possible to employ a baby-sitter or a nurse, but it may be even more expensive. Such a child will never be able to be independent and will always have to live in a protected environment. This is why instead of sacrificing one's life and career it is better to visit the child with Down's syndrome in an institution, as often as it is possible.
