/^t/Yet another reason for the careful consideration of this topic, is whether the feeling of being different from other children shall hurt the adopted child. After all, when we are small we do not want to be different; we want to have the same clothes, toys, play the same games, speak the same language as our peers. A child made very aware of being different may not only be rejected by other children, he/she themselves may feel awkward, "queer" and avoid company, thus leading to shyness, loneliness and the shutting out of the outside word.
