/^t/There are at least three major causes of the recent increase of violence in Poland: poverty stemming from employment inequalities, violence-saturated culture and lack of institutions responsible for moral guidance of society. Poland, which during the year of communist rule was propagated as a pretty safe country, now faces the rise in number of committed murders, rapes and thefts. Violence has become the second more important problem of the country, right after economic instability. Policja, the official body responsible for keeping law and order, has lost much of its power and respect. The situation is so threatening that Polish is now working upon legislature changes which could make Polish citizens feel safer at their homes and on the streets.
