/^t/The first factor that contributes to lying is protection in order to avoid behaving despicably and not harming others. Both children and adults lie to make themselves safe. If a few-years-old child has made a hole in a table cloth, he/she will probably keep on telling his/her mother: 'It is not me who did it. The reason for children acting in this way may be accounted for by the fact that they realize the extent of the damage and therefore aim to maintain their innocence. The fact they want to remain innocent and not to be punished does not mean that they have to tell lies. So lying in this way proves to be immoral and should always be condemned.
