/^t/Growth in consciousness is among the most sublime tasks of both the humanity and an individual human being. The further from the bucolic times of the Golden Age, the less idyllic and equivocal reality gets. The twentieth century witnesses a dramatic duality of human activity; the realm of lofty cultural, technological, scientific accomplishments co-exists with the pictures of bulging-bellied children, ruined environment, and slaughter houses. Such drastic phenomena are the indicators of a decline in sensitivity and consciousness of contemporary men. The adoption of a coherent set of values providing a spiritual basis as well as practical answers to pains and inglorious aspects of human activity seems to be necessary. Offering revitalisation of morality and philosophy of life, vegetarianism constitutes a solution to a number of moral, economic, and ecological problems.
