/^t/Film is the most influential form of 20th century mass culture. Moreover, it is the most American one. European cinemas and TV screens are flooded by Hollywood productions, with which Europeans find themselves unable to compete. The reaction to this phenomenon is quite histerical: many Europeans fear that the American film industry posits a threat to their entire culture. Nevertheless, cinema is only one element of culture; thus, the domination of American film productions does not posit a threat to other facets of European culture: to literature, music and their national heritage.
