It's quite evident that our efforts should come before detailed analysis of the current conditions and consequent introduction of the free market reforms as well as changes in educational, social insurance systems and health service. We need the membership in EC in consideration of some political and strategic aspects. Poland is not a small, out-of-the-way country, so we cannot be neutral, we can't stand peacefully face to face with uniting Europe. Poland can't afford neutrality - we are not a rich country, we haven't got enough funds or sources of the internal capital. The membership in European structures is the only sensible solution at the turn of the century.
