Many viewers, often subconsciously, carry over some images of human interaction seen on television into their everyday lives. Experiments show that watching violence on television encourages aggression. Explicit sexuality increases callousness toward women and acceptance of sexual violence. On the positive side, numerous studies have shown that watching programs that emphasize sharing and cooperation encourages prosocial behavior.
