According to various dictionary definitions, "to be insane" means, either, to be unable to control your behaviour, or to be unaware of one's actions; which suggests a mental illness. There is, though, another interpretation of the state. An insane person is someone who behaves irreasonably or foolishly; this suggests relativity in perception of such actions: it is the matter of a subjective opinion what is reasonable and what is silly.
