The session is going to welcome papers addressing the following issues:

  • defining the text-types, genres and discourse patterns of the past
  • modern text-types and their history
  • the fate of historical text-types
  • text-type characteristics in a historical perspective: lexis
  • text-type characteristics in a historical perspective: grammar
  • text-type characteristics in a historical perspective: pragmatic aspects
  • text-type characteristics in a historical perspective: stylistics
  • Language for Special Purposes in a historical perspective

Following the main theme of the conference, Linguistic topics at the start of the new century: an overview, text-type research constitutes one of the most current trends in historical linguistics. It includes studies which move away from purely linguistic description towards explaining why particular communicative situations, taking place through various types of text, exhibit a specific range of linguistic features.

Please send your abstracts to the Conference Organisers at plm@ifa.amu.edu.pl, following the submission guidelines.
